In some cases, your kitchen garbage disposal can be humming and you need to replace it. The replacement process is straightforward, but it requires some tools. You'll need a 1/4-inch hex wrench and a broom stick to remove the clog. Don't turn the disposal on while it's running, as this can burn the motor. After removing the clog, you'll need to replace the tailpiece.

Begin by unplug the old disposal. This might be plugged into the electrical outlet, or it may be hardwired to the circuit wiring. In this case, you'll need to turn off the main service panel to switch off the power. Next, you'll need to disconnect the drain connections and the flange assembly to remove the unit. Once you've disconnected the power, you can proceed with the replacement.

Unplug the old garbage

Unplug the old garbage disposal from the power cord. The mounting bracket should be unscrewed and the disposal removed. If the old mounting bracket is attached to the bar sink, you'll need to remove it first. Then, pull the flange off the sink flange. The mounting ring is placed over the gasket. Finally, tighten the screws one by one until the new mounting bracket is securely fastened.

Reinstall

If the disposal is loose or damaged, you'll need to reinstall it. To do this, you'll need to remove the mounting ring and remove the disposal flange from the drain. Then, install the new disposal assembly beneath the sink. The mounting ring and the flange sandwich together at the bottom and top of the sink drain opening. This is called the flange, and it's installed beneath the sink.

After you've removed the disposal, you'll need to remove the mounting nut. Then, remove the drain and push the drain flange through the drain. Then, reconnect the power cord and the disposal flange. Once they are connected, plug the power cord back in and reinstall the unit. Once you've installed the new unit, you'll need to replace the flange ring with a new one from the same manufacturer.

Replace

To replace the garbage disposal, you need to remove the flange assembly from the drain. If you're replacing an older model, you can reuse the mounting ring. Ensure that the mounting ring is screwed into the underside of the sink's drain flange. Once you've removed the flange, you'll need to insert the new disposal. The mounting ring is the key to a good seal.

To replace the garbage disposal, you need to remove the mounting plate and dismantle it. Then, you'll need to remove the cable connector and plug it into the unit. You'll need to take care of the wiring before replacing the disposal. Make sure to use the correct kind of screws to replace the unit. The flange is the part that connects the sink to the drain. Then, you need to remove the mounting plate and reconnect it.
