Skymet Weather is a weather forecasting website that provides weather information. It provides real-time updates about temperature, rainfall activities, satellite images, and weather conditions in different parts of the country.

As reiterated by Skymet Meteorology Division in India, some parts of Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand have been receiving heavy rain. For instance, Manali in the last 24 hours from 8:30 am on Wednesday has received 38.8 mm of rain, while Keylong and Una have recorded 20 mm and 13.4 mm of rain, respectively. Light rain of 10.1 mm has also been observed in Shimla.

Rainfall in Uttarakhand was rather heavier with the state capital Nainital observing 63 mm of rain. Mukteshwar and Pithoragarh recorded 37.8 mm and 31 mm of rain, respectively. Almora also experienced 23 mm of rain, while Tehri recorded 21 mm of rainfall.

Looking at the weather models at Skymet, rainfall in the region is expected to continue for next 24 hours with similar intensity. Uttarakhand will however, experience a little prolonged spell of 2-3 days as the low pressure area in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh is likely to move towards Uttarakhand soon.

The rainfall in the region is currently because of two systems. The first one is a Western Disturbance which is moving across the hilly states, while the second one is the low pressure area in Rajasthan and adjoining Madhya Pradesh. Both these systems are acting in tandem to give rain in Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand. And the topography of the region makes it more conducive to respond to weather activities and add on to the rainfall amounts.

During the Monsoon season, Uttarakhand receives the maximum amount of rain followed by Himachal Pradesh and Jammu and Kashmir.

The average rainfall in Himachal Pradesh during the month of June is 95.4 mm, while Uttarakhand observes 167.8 mm of rain.
