SNOHOMISH, WA: Big Trees Inc., (https://bigtreesupply.com/), a tree sales and transplant company in the Seattle area, was asked to help an iconic Seattle company transplant some large trees as part of the company’s relocation of their headquarters.

There was a large Japanese Maple in the courtyard of the company’s corporate campus. This Maple and a large Leyland Cypress tree had been planted as a memorial tree and were the trees that needed to be moved to the new campus headquarters 20 miles away. The Japanese Maple was scheduled to be root pruned a year prior to the final transplant effort. The tree was dug into a reasonable root ball and the trench was backfilled with heavy material that encouraged new fibrous growth of the root system at that time.

Roughly a year after this initial root pruning effort, the Big Trees crews returned to the property to finish root balls on both trees and move them to the new headquarters. The Japanese Maple was in a difficult position to reach, which called for an extendable boom forklift to fish it out to the flatbed truck for transport. Once the trees arrived at the new location, a tower crane was used to lift the trees off the flatbed truck and into their new garden locations.

“Our services and crews can make projects like this come together seamlessly for our clients. There are a lot of intricacies involved in this kind of work, and while it’s not rocket science, having a team that heads off difficulties with this scale of landscaping is always appreciated.” said Todd Holmes, Big Trees’ operations manager.

Nancy Penrose is the owner of Big Trees Inc., located in Snohomish, WA in the Seattle area.
