German Disability Insurance Ranking 2023

The new Disability Insurance rating for 2023 has just been released by RealRate.

These are the top three Disability Insurance companies in Germany, measured by their technical future interest rate:

1. DEUTSCHE ÄRZTEVERSICHERUNG – 4.18%
2. WWK LEBEN – 3.84%
3. HELVETIA LEBEN – 3.78%

Founded in 1881, Deutsche Ärzteversicherung is headquartered in Cologne, is an insurer for the academic medical professions in Germany, and is a subsidiary of the AXA Group. Its current total assets are €3.7 billion.

WWK Lebensversicherung is an independent and modern financial services provider with strong substance and growth. Its headquarters are in Munich, and it has current total assets of €5.6 billion.

Helvetia Leben was formed in 1858 and is based in St. Gallen, Switzerland. It assures more than 7 million customers with around 12,500 employees. Currently, it has total assets of €1.8 billion.


CEO Dr. Holger Bartel: “Disability insurance in Germany is one that replaces part of your monthly income in case a disability arises which means you cannot work. There are many types of policies that differ in cost and overall coverage, but it is usually about 1-3% of your annual salary. Over 8 million people in Germany currently have such a policy. Term-life and disability insurance will only pay out in the event of death or disability, respectively.
