Quality Desuperheater for Refrigeration Applications Introduce by Maniks

Maniks Desuperheater
Maniks are having comprehensive range of Desuperheater supply since last three decades. Maniks introduced variety of desuperheaters with precise temperature control for various applications in chemical or oil & gas process plants where the available refrigerant is at superheated conditions. These Desuperheaters have high performance, custom design, easy to install and requires very low maintenance.

Maniks provides two types of desuperheaters
• Freon Desuperheater - SERIES HEF 33- XXX- 22
• Ammonia Desuperheater - SERIES HEA 77- XXX- 717

Principle of Desuperheater
The term desuperheating is known as attemperation or steam conditioning which actually used to reduce steam temperature in a high heat generation plants. Maniks desuperheaters are designed to inject water and maximize the surface contact and direct contact between the steam and water to decrease the steam temperature.

Desuperheaters inject water through the holes into the path of the high speed steam where water absorbs heat from the steam gets evaporated and the steam temperature is been lowered in the process. They can be connected horizontally or vertically.

Types of Desuperheater
Desuperheating is the process by which superheated steam is restored to its saturated state, or the superheat temperature is reduced. Basically there are two types of super heaters
• Indirect contact type Desuperheater - The medium used to cool the superheated steam does not come into direct contact with it. A cooler liquid or gas may be employed as the cooling medium, for example, the surrounding air. Examples of this type of desuperheater are shell and tube heat exchangers.
• Direct contact type Desuperheater - The medium used to cool the superheated steam comes into direct contact with it. In most cases, the cooling medium is the same fluid as the vapor to be desuperheated, but in the liquid state. For example, in the case of steam desuperheaters, water is used.

Working of a Desuperheater
Desuperheater brings superheated steam into direct contact with water the steam is cooled through the evaporation it reduces the temperature of the steam.
Maniks desuperheater is designed to work in a refrigeration system so it uses ammonia water inside to cool the refrigerant gas. When refrigerant gas in a refrigeration system is compressed in a compressor it passes though a condenser where it gives off heat and changes to a liquid state and then it passes through an expansion valve to an evaporator coil to absorb heat and change the refrigerant back to gaseous state for recompressing in the compressor to complete and the refrigeration cycle. This cycle is performed repeatedly in refrigeration systems.
The evaporator coil is positioned within a refrigerated box, display case, or cabinet and the heat absorbed by the refrigerant passing through the coil serves to extract heat from the refrigerated box and its contents to maintain the box at the desired temperature.

Advantages:

Maniks desuperheater has various advantages such as
• Efficient, evaporated cooling water adds to steam load
• Various types, configurations and sizes
• No moving parts hence low maintenance
• No special supports required
• No thermal liner required (except for emergency dump application)

Applications of Maniks Desuperheater
There are various fields in which desuperheaters are used as a heat exchanger few of them are given below
• Improve heat transfer of surface type heat exchangers
• Reduction and control of superheated steam
• Use on boilers between superheated stages or at boiler exit
• Controls superheat temperatures at partial loads
• Bypass of bleeder or backpressure turbines to maintain balance between process steam and power requirements
• Balancing and make up steam in reducing pressure systems
• Desuperheaters as energy exchangers
• Shipboard service
• Industrial heating system
• Food processing
• Turbine bypass steam temperature control
• Control steam temperature to dryer drums in paper manufacturing
• Reduce temperature of high pressure steam reduced to a usable pressure
• Control temperature to evaporators
• Used in shipboard service
• Control steam temperature to dryers in paper industry
• Heating system steam conditioning
• Processed steam temperature control
