About the Company

The Rare Gem Collection was originally founded in 1977 as M.Z. Impex Corporation by Joseph “Joe” Zaroovabeli. Joseph was an avid traveler and his interest in gem stones along with learning and trading made him a gemstone specialist. Later his son, Justin joined him in the business and they founded The Rare Gem Collection. The father and son duo soon realized that specialization was the key to getting success and this is when they turned to offering Joe’s special Alexandrite collection for sale.

Also known as the June Alexandrite, the gem is the birthstone of the month June. The rarity of the gem is there because of its special colors which are vivid grass green and intense raspberry red. The green color is visible during the day while the red color at the end of the day.
