This week, we have selected this dashing young man as our ‘Star of the Week’, and it gives us huge pleasure to write about this rising Superstar.

When you are in the process chasing your dream, you get stumbled, stopped, misunderstood and even thrown out of track.

Few people quit after this but few take this an opportunity to make them stronger. Such an anagulous artist is now present in our Film industry and it’s none other than “Vijay sethupathi”. From a Junior artist in ‘Pudupettai’, the actor has now reached to such a state where he can lock horns with any other big stars in the industry.

This week, we have selected this dashing young man as our ‘Star of the Week’, and it gives us huge pleasure to write about this rising Superstar.

An ordinary early life with lots of hardships

Vijay Sethupathi does not belong to the lost list of Tamil actors who have entered the industry just because of their parental legacy. Instead, he is the one who began his life in a middle class family in Rajapalayam, Virudhunagar District. Young Vijay Sethupathi along with his parents shifted to Chennai when he was twelve years old.

Vijay Sethupathi was not at all bright student in school times. He was neither interested in Sports nor in arts. After completing his schooling from MGR Higher Secondary School, Kodambakkam, he started doing multifarious jobs to meet his needs. He even worked as a salesman in a retail store and as a telephone booth operator. In the meantime, he also completed B Com Degree from D B Jain College.

Later, Vijay Sethupathi, due to his financial difficulties moved to UAE and worked there as an accountant. In this time, he met Jessie through online, and both fell in love in no time. The duo apparently married in 2003.
Instigation of Confidence by Balu Mahendra

Vijay Sethupathi was not at all happy with his job in Dubai, even though it fetched him a decent income. During this time, Vijay Sethupathi met Balu Mahendra, and the legendary director asked the young man to pursue acting career, as he has a very good photogenic face.

The words of Balu Mahendra literally acted as a catalyst in shaping Vijay Sethupathi’s career. As a result of the encouraging words from a legend like Mahendra, Vijay Sethupathi joined Koothu-P-Pattarai, a theater group as an accountant. His days in Koothu-P-Pattarai helped him to observe actors very closely.

During this time, he acted in many short films and television serials. One of the most noted serial in which he acted was ‘Penn’ which began airing on 2006.
Vijay Sethupathi has a very good creative rapport with Karthik Subbaraj. The duo has worked in many shorts, and when Karthik Subbaraj made his debut movie ‘Pizza’, he chose Vijay Sethupathi to do the lead role.
Chasing the dreams with Suseenthiran’s helping hand

As we told earlier, Vijay Sethupathi’s first noted appearance in films was the character of a henchman in ‘Pudhupettai’. Later, he acted in another small role in Prabhu Solomon’s ‘Lee’. Acclaimed filmmaker Suseenthiran has crucial role in determining the acting career of Vijay Sethupathi.

Suseenthiran casted him in small yet prominent roles in his movies, ‘Vennila Kabadi Kuzhu’ and ‘Naan Mahan Alla’, and both these roles were well received by critics. The director later recommended Sethupathi to director Seenu Ramasamy, and this resulted in the movie, ‘Thenmerku Paruvakaatru’. The film upon its release fetched mixed reviews, but it succeeded in winning three National Awards.

Touching the big league through ‘Pizza’ and ‘Naduvula Konjam Paakkatha Kanom’

The year 2012 was one of the most successful years in the career of the actor. His fame knew no bounds when movies like ‘Sundarapandian’, ‘Pizza’ and ‘Naduvula Konjam Paakkatha Kanom’. Both these three movies were well received by both critics and audiences, and it helped the actor to emerge as a known name throughout South India.

Out of these three movies, it was ‘Pizza’ which made him a sensation. Most of the National dailies praised Karthik Subbaraj and Vijay Sethupathi for their uncompromising making and acting. It should be also noted that the performance of Vijay in ‘NKPK’ and ‘Pizza’ fetched him Best actor awards in Norway Tamil Film Festival and SIIMA respectively.

In 2014, ‘Pannaiyaarum Padminiyum’ hit the screens, and it was opened to critical acclaim. This movie was a feel good flick, and it narrated the intimate relation between a Premiere Padmini car and an old man.
In an interview given to a leading online portal, Vijay Sethupathi told that the characters in ‘Pizza’ and ‘Pannaiyaarum Padminiyum’ were very difficult, and it literally tested his mettle.

Bounce back in style with ‘Naanum Rowdydhaan’

Vijay Sethupathi faced three consecutive Box Office failures when his movies, ‘Vanmham’, ‘Purampokku’ and ‘Orange Mittai’ failed to make any big impacts in Box Office. ‘Orange Mittai’ was written and produced by Vijay Sethupathi, but nothing turned as per expectations. The film succeeded in impressing critics, but it emerged as a colossal disaster.

The actor made a strong comeback to the big league as his latest movie ‘Naanum Rowdydhaan’ started rocking the Tamil Nadu Box Office. The movie was released on October 21, 2015, and it successfully impressed the mass and class audiences. Through this flick, Vijay Sethupathi made it clear that he is undoubtedly a ‘Young Superstar’, and he has the capability to draw the audiences to the screens. The film is directed by Vignesh Shivan, and it has none other than our beautiful Nayanthara in the role of female lead.

An aspiring list of movies ahead

Vijay Sethupathi is now undoubtedly one of the most prominent names in the list of young Superstars. The actor has some aspiring projects ahead which includes, Karthik Subbaraj’s ‘Iraivi’, Nalan kumaraswamy’s ‘Kadhalum Kadandhu Pogum’ and S U Arunkumar’s ‘Sethupathi’. All the three movies fall in different genres, and this clearly indicates the versatility and selectiveness of Vijay Sethupathi.

Vijay Sethupathi is not just an actor now. He is a producer, lyricist, singer and writer. The life of this man is a clear cut epitome of sincere hard work, and his achievements clearly proclaim that dedication and passion will not go in vain if you are giving your fullest.

We are very much proud to select Vijay Sethupathi as our ‘Star of the Week’, and movieclickz.com team hereby conveys our hearty wishes to our own ‘Rowdy’
