Nifty hits 8850; Hindalco & SBI gain, Sun Pharma falls 2%
Sensex rallies over 200 points; Nifty reclaims 8850 levels
The market surges as buying in bank stocks continue. The Sensex is up 162.38 points or 0.6 percent at 29257.31 and the Nifty is up 46.60 points or 0.5 percent at 8852.10. About 917 shares have advanced, 517 shares declined, and 137 shares are unchanged.
The S&P BSE Sensex rallied as much as 225 points in trade on Monday, led by gains in HDFC Bank, SBI, TCS, Reliance Industries and ITC.

Tracking the momentum, the 50-share Nifty index also managed to rally over 50 points in trade, to reclaim its crucial psychological level of 8850.

the 30-share index was at 29285.76, up 190 points or 0.66 per cent. It touched a high of 29320.90 and a low of 29156.04 in trade today.

The Nifty was at 8855 up 50 points or 0.57 per cent. It touched a high of 8861.65 and a low of 8824.70 in trade today.

The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 0.48 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap Index edged higher by 0.37 per cent.

Sesa Sterlite (up 2.2 per cent), Hindalco (up 1.5 per cent), SBI (up 1.4 per cent), Cipla (up 1.44 per cent) and ONGC (up 1.3 per cent) were among the major Sensex gainers.
