The date of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 final has been announced. It will be played on May 24 but the venue for the same is yet to be finalized.
57-window for IPL
A report suggest that the 57-day window of IPL will not have any doubleheaders and it will be the longest ever IPL due to one match a day. But According to the source, the schedule of full league is not ready yet. The source also shared information about the Finale as well.
A source told according to IANS, “While the full schedule isn’t ready yet, the final is set to be played on May 24 and with the tournament starting on March 29, you obviously get a longer window than say 45 days. So, there should be no issue in accommodating one game a day. In fact, it should be a walk in the park for those chalking out how matches will be played over 57 days.”
No afternoon matches
IPL matches on the working days was one of the discussions that have been brough up many a times in the past. The weekend matches obviously attract more crowds and also the evening slots on weekdays. So the host broadcaster had asked for consideration on the same. They had requested to eliminate of the afternoon fixtures totally but the source mentioned that it was probably not just the broadcasters who had faced that issue. He revealed that even some of the franchise same kind of problem and hence the best way was to remove this afternoon slot and give it a try in this season.
This year all IPL games will start at 7:30 PM as opposed to the 8:00 PM. As announced a few days ago the defending champions Mumbai Indians (MI) will begin their campaign at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on March 29. The source also opined that it wasn't just about the broadcasters, it was also about how late games finished last season.
