India pace bowler JaspritBumrah on Sunday revealed a common belief that he entered into the Indian team through the Indian Premier League (IPL) is a "myth", giving credit to his domestic performances as being the main reason for his promotion to the top level and why budding cricketers today need to respect that aspect of doing well in the domestic level.

"Bowlers come up to me and say ODI T20 thikhai (ODIs, T20I is okay). But they forget, Tests make you a complete cricketer," JaspritBumrah said during an Instagram chat with former India all-rounder Yuvraj Singh.

JaspritBumrah made his ODI and T20I debut in 2016 whereas his Test call-up came two years later in 2018. The 26-year old speedster is now considered as one of the best fast bowlers in the world with 104 wickets in ODIs from only 64 games and 68 scalps in just 14 Test matches as well.

"That I made it to the Indian team by my performances in the IPL is a myth. 2013 is when I came into the IPL (for Mumbai Indians) then 2013, 2014, 2015 I was not playing regularly. I did well in (Vijay) Hazare and in domestic circuit then I came into the Indian team in 2016," Bumrah said. "You have to play Test cricket to survive in the long run."

As far as the current situation is concerned, the world is currently fighting against the novel coronavirus which has brought the world into a standstill. This has cancelled or postponed several cricketing options across the globe and there is no surety when they will begin. This also includes Indian Premier League 2020 which was earlier decided to begin from March 29, postponed to April 15 and now it has been suspended for the indefinite time period.
