With more and more importance of people attached on health, the virgin coconut oil has a brilliant future. For the past few years, the global virgin coconut oil market has achieved sustained and rapid development.



Lauric acid and capric acid, which is the most important medium chain fatty acid found in virgin coconut oil, possess soothing power and powerful anti-microbial properties capable of destroying disease causing bacteria, fungi, viruses and parasites. Before 1970s, the coconut oil and other tropical oils are mainly used for cooking, deep-frying, baking and cosmetics industry. In 1980s, the saturated fat was found in coconut oil, and it was considered as unhealthy oil because the saturated fat may lead to thrombus, heart disease and atherosclerosis. However, some scientists think the saturated fat in coconut oil is not unhealthy after research, as it comes from plants not animals.



As shown in the Global Virgin Coconut Oil Market Research Report 2017 by QYR, the 2016 global virgin coconut oil market scale is about 0.64 billion dollars, and the market production is about 90 thousand tons, the GAGR is 2.32%.



By the end of 2016, the largest global virgin coconut oil manufacture is Greenville Agro, with more than 6000 tons annual production. Limited by the raw materials, the coconut oil production mainly distribute in the Southeast Asia, India and Sri Lanka.
