A former Lawyer at the financial ombudsman service has been warned that if another one mis-selling scandal will happen then online cash loans lending could be end up.
James ward associate at Thomas Snell &Passmore said that it is the time for proper regulation in this industry.
"If it transpires that lenders haven't acted ethically or provided adequate information to borrowers, a deluge of complaints may follow," he warned.
"The legislation that regulates this area is simply not adequate."
He believes the main problem is online lending and their promises to lend the funds easily and instantly. James ward said that "There is no time to assess whether they should be lending to the borrower at all, and this is virtually impossible without a face-to-face transaction”.
Payday loans are aimed that people who need this short term cash advance for few days. These kinds of loans are expensive but in bad conditions they are very helpful. The payday loans could be cheaper than bank loans.
"online cash loans should be banned. They are too easy to get, too quickly," Mr Ward said. "Or there should be a minimum time, at least seven days, between the application being accepted and the funds being provided. Restricting the number of rollovers allowed would also limit the extent to which loans could escalate."
