It has been reported that a fiber-optic line was cut today in the Southern Illinois region, causing Internet service to be disconnected for thousands of subscribers accessing the Internet via a competitor network. While these other networks fail, Quad State Internet is deploying a high availability, low latency fiber-optic network that offers solutions that can mitigate these types of issues. Our fiber-optic network offers resilience to communities utilizing Quad State Internet for access by ensuring all Internet traffic always has two or more ways out of the region. This means that a single fiber optic cable cut will not take down Internet access to all users of Quad State Internet.
