As market demands fluctuate, the media & entertainment vertical is undergoing a digital transformation in order to keep up with these fluctuations. This has encouraged the companies operating in this vertical to adopt managed services to increase their network uptime, enhance network security, and resolve IT issues.

Cisco Systems, Inc. is a US-based multinational technology company headquartered in Silicon Valley. It is a developer, manufacturer, and supplier of telecommunications equipment, networking hardware, and other advanced solutions. Cisco has been identified as a visionary leader by the 360Quadrants team. It has earned this recognition due to its established product portfolios, robust market presence, and advanced business strategies.

Recently, Cisco and Samsung completed a successful 5G trial and demonstration with Orange. The trial, conducted in Romania, used Cisco's Ultra Gateway Platform, Meraki Z3 WiFi Router, and NFV Infrastructure, as well as Samsung's virtualized RAN and outdoor 5G routers (CPE).

Cisco and Samsung leveraged the broad bandwidth present at 26 GHz as well as advanced antenna technologies like beamforming and massive MIMO to achieve 1 Gbps coverage beyond 1 km for a single user in real-world conditions. Measurements conducted under the abovementioned conditions also display aggregated cell downlink throughputs of 3 Gbps with certain users, although the capacity of the system is significantly greater. In one demonstration of the 5G network, a competition was conducted between two players in a live cloud video game. The split-second actions by both players as well as the seamless operation of the game were clearly visible due to the network's exceedingly low latency.

As part of the trial, Cisco Meraki MV21 cameras were deployed to provide video coverage and advanced video-based analytics. Three major applications for Smart Cities and B2B verticals such as retail were demonstrated. Video data, like that recorded by Meraki, can provide an accurate count of the people moving within the camera’s field of view. Other use cases include delivery of information to improve product disposal in retail setups and better organization of space for improved service.
