Return of Online Gambling in the United States Grants New Opportunity for Interactive Games

Online gambling is making a slower than expected return in the United States after the law banning it nationwide changed. Now, it is up to individual states to determine whether online gaming is legal.

Lobbying in the United States over the support for legalizing online gambling in the United States has been split. While most of the world allows online gambling or interactive gaming, the gambling industry in the United States cannot agree over whether online gambling will help or hurt the casino industry. As of June 2014, only a few states in the U.S. permit online gambling.

Interactive Gaming and Sports, is one of many online companies watching the United States’ struggle over the gambling issue. “There only a few states in the U.S. that allow online gambling, but even then, it is slow. The problem in the U.S. is over regulation,” says an Interactive Gaming and Sports representative.

Online gambling remains illegal in most of the United States, but it was a decision made in 2011 that permitted each state to decide whether or not to re-legalize online gambling. “Re-legalizing interactive gaming is a great opportunity for Interactive Gaming and Sports. We are always eager to expand internationally, but while most of the world is onboard, the United States remains closed off,” says the Interactive Gaming and Sports representative. Interactive Gaming and Sports is one of the international gambling companies looking to become established in U.S. market. “A Canadian-based gaming group is hoping to return to the United States, but right now has had technical hurdles and is limited to only three states.”

The largest hurdle facing Interactive Gaming and Sports entrance into the U.S. market is the country’s struggle over regulation. Each state would need regulations in place to verify who is playing. Players in the U.S. would have to be 21 and older and be physically in the state they gamble from. This means players would have to give up the anonymity they want when engaged in interactive gaming.

For now, the United States continues to hammer out the legalities of online gaming. The gambling industry is split between supporting and suppressing the ability to gamble online, but Interactive Gaming and Sports believes it is only a matter of time before more states make interactive gaming legal. The company believes as more states set regulations and agree on regulation language, the faster the U.S. will open up as a new market for Interactive Gaming and Sports.
