The Kellogg Company is a consumer packaged goods (CPG) company that offers great opportunities for students looking for business experience. Paul Benario, a major in Business Management Information Systems with a minor in Leadership Studies at Bradley University, has been doing his IT internship at the Kellogg Company since 2009. Starting as an intern, Benario recently rose to become head of the Kellogg internship program, managing over twelve other interns.

Benario has nothing but good things to say about his time at the Kellogg Company. The internship provided Benario with first-hand experience in the business world, and allowed him to learn the ropes of business consultancy that he would later use at Avanade. The ins and outs of the business world can be very confusing, and first-hand experience is really the only way to fully understand the various checks and balances one has to abide by. This first-hand experience, according the Benario, is incredibly different that the classroom experience, and allowed him to fully understand which aspect of the business world was the best fit for him. The internship also allowed him to meet and socialize with other interns creating lasting connections and friendships, and also incredible networking opportunities.

The Kellogg Company itself was also the perfect learning environment. The Kellogg Company has a set of “K-Values” it teaches to all its interns concerning ethics and high moral standards. One of the most useful of these K-Values, according to Benario was to “always assume positive intent”. This meant that one always assumes a co-worker is doing what they should be doing. Benario recommends an internship at Kellogg for all looking.
