Many people consider themselves to be professional musicians, yet very few actually stand out as a unique and gifted talent. Marcus Hunley has proven his worth as a talented and revered saxophonist, and has transitioned that talent into successful careers in both music and teaching.

Marcus Hunley began playing saxophone at a very early age. His countless hours of practice, not to mention an unwavering love for music, helped him move quickly up the musical food chain. His hard work and dedication has served him well.

Marcus Hunley has certainly proven his ability to play the saxophone. As a talented and experienced sax player, Marcus Hunley has used his ability to create numerous quality musical opportunities. He has been able to successfully capitalize on his talent by building a successful career as both an educator and a musician.

From 1991-1994 Marcus Hunley was a member of the exclusive Texas All State Band. His saxophone skill and talent were responsible for his membership in this elite musical group. His high school experience earned him the opportunity to attend Michigan State University in 1994. Marcus was honored to have received the Dick Charles Endowed Scholarship in Saxophone Studies, which allowed him to develop a highly successful student career. As the first person to be honored with this unique scholarship, Marcus Hunley was provided the opportunity to become a successful student at Michigan State. It also gave him the chance to earn distinction as a member of the MSU Top Jazz Ensemble and the Wind Ensemble. He was an invaluable member of both ensembles.

Marcus Hunley’s gift also gave him the chance to play with several renowned jazz bands and combos. During his time as a Michigan resident, Marcus Hunley toured many musical venues in the state of Michigan. He developed a real and interactive relationship with the Michigan musical scene. As a touring musician, Marcus provided many concert goers and music lovers with expert saxophone play. He was a vital part of these bands, and looks back fondly on the opportunities he had to perform with many talented musicians.
