Elaine Jordan is currently a student at the University of Iowa who is involved in many academic and extracurricular activities. She is celebrating several years of success in her endeavors at the university.

Elaine Jordan is a highly motivated student at the University of Iowa. She has been a highly motivated student since her high school days. At that time, as a member of Urbandale High School’s Talented and Gifted program, Elaine Jordan’s hard work paid off with outstanding grades, and selection to the National Honor Society.

Since leaving high school behind and coming to the University of Iowa, Elaine Jordan has focused on Environmental Biosciences and Geology. She has been the recipient of the University’s Engineering Opportunities Scholarship, due to her academic achievement. For Elaine Jordan, the scholarship was well deserved as she has consistently worked hard throughout her college career.

Elaine Jordan has also become a mentor with Women in Science and Engineering (WISE). She says that being a student in the sciences can be tough. Workloads can be heavy, and competition among students is intense, and the pressure is considerable. For this reason, Elaine Jordan believes in the power of peer mentoring as a means of connecting with other students and providing them with a support network. She feels that students in the sciences and engineering should work together, not against each other. That’s why she runs group sessions that foster mindfulness and cooperation.

In addition to her work with WISE, Elaine Jordan is a mentor for Complementary and Alternative Medicines (CAM). Through her work with this group, she promotes mind-body awareness and helps students to discover relaxation techniques that work with their needs. “I care very deeply for people,” Elaine Jordan says, “and have done much mind-body work with myself and leading groups.

The University of Iowa (UI) is the oldest university in the state. Founded in 1847, it is considered one of the “Public Ivy Leagues.” UI offers prestigious programs in over 100 areas of study. It was this broad range of degree programs and extracurricular activities that drew Elaine Jordan’s interest. “As I’m always involved in multiple activities at any given time, it was important for me to attend a school that catered to my interests,” she explains. Certainly, the university has exceeded her expectations.

Elaine Jordan is also a resident assistant in one of the university’s dormitories, and serves as the President for the Waterski and Wakeboard Club. The university truly offers a range of activities that suit her interests. For Elaine Jordan, the sky is the limit at the University of Iowa!
