Doug Sailors has been involved in nonprofit work for ten years running.

Doug Sailors reached out to become a business professional over thirty years ago. By 1986, his dreams of reaching the top of the corporate ladder began to come true when he was appointed the title of Executive Vice President of Aquila Oil Corporation. His main responsibility was to ensure project funding. The responsibility of ensuring funding would be paramount to Doug Sailors' work for the rest of his business career.

While Doug Sailors celebrated his position as vice president his ambitions led him to advance his career to the position of president. His chance came in 1989 when he was appointed President of Refuse Disposal Inc. In 1993, he took over the position of President of Triage Medical Corporation and remained a part of the medical industry for about half a decade.

The turning point in Doug Sailors’ career came in 2002. “I had helped conduct organizational meetings and performed the legal filings for a nonprofit organization in Nashville, Tennessee called The Phoenix Project. Out of appreciation for my work, I was given a letter of appreciation,” says Doug Sailors. He donated his time.

Doug Sailors admits it felt good to be a part of something designed to better the community not for profit but because it was the moral thing to do. From then on, Doug Sailors was committed to helping nonprofit organizations. He also began to donate his time to the American Cancer Society, which thanked him for his work with awards in 2003 and 2004.

By 2006, Doug Sailors again structured and performed the legal filings for another nonprofit organization. This time, the organization was Life Before Birth and accelerated Doug Sailors’ desire to assist nonprofit organizations.

After becoming an independent consultant, Doug Sailors directed his services to management companies, public companies, and nonprofit organizations due to his experience with each. In 2007, Doug Sailors was contracted by a management company that oversees nonprofit organizations; he was hired as a consultant. In part as a result of the work that Doug Sailors did with that management company, the various charities the management company oversees have been able to provide $18 million in programs and services since 2007. “It has been a really fortunate thing,” Doug Sailors says, “my being involved with this management company. It’s been great to be able to feel like I am helping to do some good.”
