Two of the objectives confronting our times are: rapid changes in our immediate and global environment due to incessant growth and miss-use of technologies causing perhaps irreversible changes in our environment (that many refer to as ‘climate change’); and economic factors, whereby many are left behind in the technological revolution due to poverty and dearth of opportunities due to the racial-socio-economic divide. Dr. Sat Bhattacharya has dealt with some of the latter issues for the past decade and a half – training impoverished students in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math). He has noticed that in many communities – especially among the African American and the African Diaspora, Hispanic, Native American – there is a sense of misplaced sense of participation! – Due to a lack of many role models and a sense of their own histories that have plated a major role in human advancement of science and technology and the number systems throughout history.

Dr. Sat Bhattacharya realizes that to be able to engage more students from these under-served populations (African American and the African Diaspora, Hispanic, Native American), a story needs to be told especially geared towards the very young (five to sixteen year olds) – who are the most impressionable and vulnerable – and may be encouraged to take the path of inventions and discovery, using the tools in science and technology – just like their ancestors, and reclaim their own place in our societies. He thinks this will have an important impact in these communities in creating awareness and a pride that is absolutely necessary for equality and gender parity. This would also play a major role to increase awareness among the main stream – which are ignorant and unawares of the histories of these peoples.

Dr. Sat Bhattacharya is using the medium of 3D Animation – (as it is a medium that the children are the most attracted to; however, the films are also for the adults upto ninety, as they are also very educational and thought provoking) and help in the societal development.

The 3D Animation film on Climate Change’, addresses the issue over seven thousand years of human history, and how as humans we have participated in unchecked growth – resulting a destruction of some of the most advanced civilizations of our times, to the present time – with calamities like the hurricane Sandy, resulting in massive destruction – which may be due to miss-use of technologies – which as a double edged sword, might act to destroy our only planet! The film also provides solutions that creates awareness in Eco-Responsibility and Eco-friendly initiatives, and would empower the next generation to participate in finding solutions.
