Thomas Rucker Methvin has a great interest in working with those who are less fortunate than he is in order to help them live more enriching lives.

Thomas Rucker Methvin has always taken an interest in the lives of others, particularly in what he can do in order to help people who are less fortunate than he is. He began working with a variety of charitable organizations while he was still studying at Saint James High School, which is something that he continues to this day despite studying for his degree at Troy University.

Thomas Rucker Methvin’s favored causes are those relating to helping disadvantages children and working on homes for those who do not have a home to call their own. His experiences working with children began when he was in 9th grade, when he chose to volunteer at Adullam House Children’s Home, where he swept floors and worked in the kitchen to ensure the charity was able to offer the best possible services to the children in their care.

He also worked with children as part of the team at Brantwood Children’s Home, who he first began volunteering for right around the time he began working with Adullam House. Brantwood provides shelter, security and structure for vulnerable children and Methvin continues to work with them to this day in any way that he is able.

It was during his time at Brantwood that Methvin began to understand how important it is for people to have a place that they can call home. This understanding was further when he undertook a mission trip to Mexico in 10th grade, where he was involved in the building of a home for the less fortunate.

Upon returning to the United States, Thomas Rucker Methvin chose to pursue this cause even further, volunteering his time to work with Habitat for Humanity on projects that were a little closer to home. He has volunteered as a painter and warehouse worker during his time contributing to the charity and it is one that he continues to support to this day, much like Brantwood.

Thomas Rucker Methvin aims to continue this charitable work as he moves on from university and begins to forge a career for himself in his native Alabama. He believes that it is vital that people pay attention to the social issues affecting their local community and do whatever they can in order to help.
