Terence Allen Kolstad keeps up to date with Microsoft programs

Terence Allen Kolstad is an IT Solutions Analyst who holds more than fifteen Microsoft certifications, and finds them an invaluable enhancement to his professional profile. But like all Information Technology workers, he finds that it’s a balancing act to stay up-to-date with the latest certifications, in a constantly changing technical environment.

Microsoft periodically “retires” some of its certifications, so Terence Allen Kolstad and other IT professionals have to weigh the pros and cons of taking the time and spending the money necessary to train, prepare for, and take an exam that might become obsolete in a year or so. The company has extended its exam retirement reporting by twelve months, so that IT pros can know what’s coming up to a year ahead of time and plan for their certification studying accordingly. Microsoft has made available a downloadable spreadsheet that shows planned certification retirements through the year, and has promised to keep that information updated every month.

Certifications like the Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) are important credentials for IT professionals, and the MCSE in particular is one of the top six. Others include Amazon Web Services’ Certified Solutions Architect – Associate, Cisco Certified Architect, EC Council’s Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator certification, the Red Hat Certified Architect, and VMware’s Certified Professional 5 – Data Center Virtualization.
The MCSE certification is recognized throughout the IT industry, and shows that its holder possesses a range of technical skills and expertise.

Employers know that those who have this certification are thoroughly trained in a constantly changing technological environment. Terence Allen Kolstad holds Microsoft certifications in Server 2012, Exchange 2013, and Messaging, among others.

He has worked for a privately held IT solution provider in Minnesota since January of 2011, and works with the company’s clients to find inexpensive solutions that resolve their business issues. “I have successfully completed dozens of IT projects for my customers,” he says. “I am very skilled in the Microsoft technology stack, and am able to communicate technology to both the basic user and the Network Administrator.”

Terence Allen Kolstad also sits on board of the Minnesota System Center User Group. MNSCUG is an organization that holds regular meetings to discuss the different products within the Microsoft System Center Suite.
