In 1999, Susan Kvicala was proud to join the Georgia Dance Conservatory family. Fourteen years later, Susan Kvicala moved on from the conservatory, but will always remain known as one of the most influential figures at the school. Susan Kvicala served as a dance instructor, choreographer, and theater manager for the organization. All of these positions allowed Susan Kvicala to support the artistic endeavor at GDC. GDC is honored for Susan Kvicala to be a former contributing instructor at their institution.

Although Susan Kvicala has always had a passion for dance, she has also explored careers in other fields. For instance, Susan Kvicala is a certified paralegal that spent several years working as a Commercial Finance Paralegal. In addition, Susan Kvicala has a M.Ed. from Georgia State University that allows her to teach middle school classes at Griffin Middle School. Susan Kvicala has received recognition for her teaching career thanks to her innovative program known as “Math Connections.”

Despite pursuing these other careers, Susan Kvicala has always remained active in the dance world. She began her career as a dance instructor at the Academy of Dance Arts in Canton, Georgia. In addition, Susan Kvicala gained administrative experience with a dance company when she worked as a theater administrator at Ruth Mitchell Dance Theater. These experiences gave her the vast experience expected of a dance instructor at the Georgia Dance Conservatory.

Susan Kvicala is pleased to continue to have the opportunity to use so many of her talents at GDC. As a choreographer, Susan Kvicala had the chance to prepare new works for students and pre-professionals as GDC puts on several showcases and recitals each year. In addition, Susan Kvicala recently had the opportunity to prepare an original work that was adjudicated by the South Regional Ballet Association.

Over the years, Susan Kvicala has been able to develop unique syllabi for her dance classes. “Each class is different, so I’m always looking for new ways to provide insightful instruction for my students,” comments Susan Kvicala. “I plan to continue teaching for many years to come because nothing else is quite as rewarding as seeing a student understand a new element of their technique or correctly apply a correction.”
