Steve Taylor of Lafayette - LA Saves Man While Working Out

Steve Taylor of Lafayette, LA was working out in a gym in Columbus, Ohio when he noticed a man on a treadmill. The man was unresponsive and had no pulse.

 
Steve Taylor is an executive in the private aviation industry in Lafayette, LA. He has been in the private aviation industry for over 15 years and previously was a pilot in the Marine Corps. He served in the Marines for eight years and was honorably discharged in 1999 as a Captain. He continued to serve in the reserves until 2004. During his time in the Marines, he held a number of authoritative positions including as a Public Affairs Officers, an Operations Officer, and as an Embarkation and Logistics Officer.

Part of the training that Steve Taylor went through during Naval Flight School was medical training. He gained valuable basic medical skills, which included CPR. His knowledge of CPR and experience in the military came in handy one evening while he was working out in Columbus, Ohio.
While running on a treadmill, listening to music, and watching MSNBC, Steve Taylor Lafayette, LA noticed that a man a few machines away from him had collapsed between two machines. He immediately rushed over and realized the man did not have a pulse. He began administering CPR, using the technique that he had been trained in while in the military. He managed to clear the man's airwaves of vomit and called out forcefully for someone to call 911.

By this point two Ohio State University, medical students began aiding Steve Taylor. They completed the second round of CPR and decided that the man required an AED. Steve Taylor followed the directions and administered what turned out to be a life-saving shock as the man's pulse slowly resurfaced. They performed an additional round of CPR and managed to help the man breathe on his own. Although the man was not conscious at this point, he was breathing and the paramedics had arrived.

Because of Steve Taylor’s quick reactions and ability to act under pressure, the man made a full recovery, which Steve Taylor learned about after a conversation with the man’s son. When discussing the incident, Steve Taylor attributed everything to his training.

“I told Jason that I was happy that his Father was recovering and that I truly believe that my training is what saved his Dad.”

Steve Taylor currently lives in Lafayette, LA. He most recently worked for PHI Inc. as the Director of International Operations and is looking for new opportunities in the private aviation industry.
