Senol Taskin is a freelance finance journalist committed to ensuring the information he reports is accurate. Senol was raised in Europe but found himself heading to the United States to complete his University studies. He first found himself at the University of Michigan where he studied business and journalism before being accepted to Columbia University in New York where he studied finance. His studies in journalism and finance are what provided Senol with the foundation to become a successful financial reporter.


Senol Taskin began his financial journalism career in 1991 when he published his first article that appeared in Finance magazine. The article "The Emerging African Economy," forecasted the unprecedented growth of the African economy, and started Senol on a path that he would follow for the next 20 years. Since that first article, Senol has published many articles on the African economy and has become the Western authority on the subject. He has recently become interested in the economy of Tanzania, penning articles on the important issues there, including the structure of the union between the mainland of Tanzania and Zanzibar. He has published many financial articles that have appeared in both print and online.


After over 20 years of being a financial journalist, Senol Taskin has begun to write his first book titled Africa's Economy: Challenge and Growth. This first book will be published sometime in 2016. Senol argues that the African continent has seen extraordinary economic growth in the last 25 years, and he states in his book that the Africa is poised to become an even greater economic force in the years to come.


Once Senol Taskin completes his book, he would like to try to find a full-time teaching position in the field of journalism. He recently spent a semester as a guest lecturer at his alma mater, the University of Michigan. Having enjoyed the experience immensely, he has begun seriously exploring the idea of teaching journalism and financial reporting full-time. Senol currently lives in London with his wife and young daughter and continues to work as a freelance financial writer and sometime radio commentator.
