Sea Shepherd Conservation Society's Operation for Ultimate Justice

The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SCSS) is a non-profit organization headed in part by CTO and CIO, Omar Todd.

The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society (SSCS) has led the way in bringing whalers to justice for years. Omar Todd is one of the leaders of the organization who takes the goals of saving whales seriously. In 2005, the SSCS sent their ships to confront whalers throughout the Antarctic Ocean. For over seven years these actions have saved 3, 651 whales from the harpoons of Japanese whalers.

Although the success far outweighed the cost, the Japanese whalers sought assistance from their government with the help of accomplices and were able to lobby with the Internal Revenue Service to take away the tax-exempt status that allowed the organization to remain a nonprofit entity. After obtaining an INTERPOL red notice (similar to an international arrest warrant) against the founder of SSCS, Paul Watson, was taken to Japan where he was put on trial for taking actions to save whales.

The Sea Shepherd Conservation Society has now asked the Seattle Federal court to take action against Japan's whaling and to declare their murderous ways illegal. The Sea Shepherd has every intention of using this same power that the whalers of Japan had once used against them in order to win the battle against that slaughter of whales in the Antarctic Ocean. Omar Todd has led a successful career in information technology that has spanned over twenty years.

Bringing this murderous way of life to light has been a victory in itself. Showing those around the globe who would otherwise have no way of knowing about the massacre against whales has played an important role in seeing policy change and a real impact on the future in the fight against whaling. These trials will hopefully bring the illegal actions of the Japanese whalers to the forefront of public inspection and scrutiny, making it virtually impossible for them to continue their illegal activities in the shadows as they have for years.

Contributing to the cause and helping to fund litigation can be the one push in the direction of freedom for whales and marine life that this case needs. Through the work of individuals such as Omar Todd, spreading the news of the injustice the whalers have plagued the seas with can help in providing the funds needed to end their tyranny forever.
