Sarah Gafvert is a 23-year-old registered nurse who works for a plastic surgeon based out of Houston, Texas. Sarah attended the University of Arkansas Eleanor Mann School of Nursing where she graduated in May of 2013. She was born in Houston, Texas, but grew up and spent all of her years in schooling in Wichita, Kansas.

At age 21, Sarah Gafvert was diagnosed with diabetes, giving her a new perspective on her life and of those living around her. Since her diagnosis, she has been dedicating her time and hard work ethic to volunteering for organizations like the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation and the American Diabetes Association. She hopes to one day become a diabetic educator at the Houston Children’s Hospital so that she might have a positive impact on the lives of children who have been newly diagnosed with the disease. She hopes to provide assistance during their difficult times because she has had so much experience with the disease first hand.

Sarah Gafvert has always excelled in life, particularly throughout her time in education. Sarah has always maintained an excellent GPA, starting when she was just a child and continuing throughout her college days. She was part of the National Honor Society and was a nursing honor student in college. In high school, she maintained a 4.0 GPA and graduated as valedictorian of her class.

Sarah Gafvert was incredibly active during her time in high school, not only participating in extra-curricular activities, but also often taking a role of leadership. She loves music and theater and was active in her high school’s drama programs. She has participated in numerous musical theater programs. She has a strong passion for dancing, having danced competitively for 15 years. She has studied all types of dance, but she specializes in ballet.

Sarah Gafvert is the hard working, passionate, loyal friend that everyone hopes to have at the end of the day. She is a huge animal lover and has the dream of opening and operating a no-kill, non-profit animal shelter in Houston. Her mother is a breast cancer survivor and Sarah has created a blog to help spread awareness about the disease.
