Slavka Tarzian may have an impressive record as a scientist, her work is not the only thing that is important to Slavka Tarzian. Not only has Slavka Tarzian received a patent from the US patent agency for her innovative design of a method which determines the smoothness of canisters used in administering inhaled medicine, and a number of awards for the study of chemistry, Slavka Tarzian is also a hands-on mom with her kids.

In the world of science, Slavka Tarzian may be better known for her accomplishments and contributions to her field of chemistry, but she is also a devoted wife and mom. When Slavka Tarzian is not in the lab, making discoveries and earning US patents, she loves to spend time volunteering with her children’s school in their classroom

Asked how she manages to balance her considerable involvement in her home life with a professional and focused work life, Slavka Tarzian explains that she simply makes time for both. “It’s very hectic being a full-time scientific professional and a wife and mom,” explains Slavka Tarzian. “But these are the two most important things in my life, so I’ve never had a problem balancing my dedication to both.”

Slavka Tarzian loves volunteering at her kids’ school. One of her children’s teachers reports that she is very happy that she can count on Slavka Tarzian for classroom assistance. “I always joke that my job requires me to have extra hands,” the teacher said. “With volunteers like Slavka Tarzian around, I actually do. Slavka Tarzian comes into the classroom frequently, and really gets the dynamic. Whether we’re planning a field trip, or working together on math problems or reading, I am always so happy to have Slavka Tarzian around to provide another adult perspective to the kids in my class. I wish every parent could be as active and generous with their time as Slavka Tarzian is!”

It’s no surprise that Slavka Tarzian is a very busy woman. “I work hard to manage my time and stay organized,” she says. “It’s hard work! But I wouldn’t have it any other way.”
