Ramzi Basharahil is a software engineer with expertise in Distributing Shared Arrays

Ramzi Basharahil is a software engineer with fifteen years of experience. He holds a Master of Science degree, which he earned from Wayne State University in Detroit. His main areas of interest there were in the fields of parallel and distributed systems, with applications to distributed processing across cluster of servers.

Ramzi Basharahil obtained his degree from Wayne State in 2001. Prior to that, he was a student at United Arab Emirates University, a comprehensive, research-intensive institution. UAEU has partnered with major corporations to provide research solutions to the challenges facing the world. With its distinguished international faculty, state-of-the art new campus, and full range of student support services, UAEU offers a living-learning environment that is unmatched in the United Arab Emirates.

Since graduating from Wayne State University, Ramzi Basharahil has worked for NetIQ, a systems and security management software company based in Houston, Texas. He has deep knowledge of security information and event management. He is the author of DSA: Distributed Shared Array:

Architecture for Clusters of SMPS. The book reflects his interest in the fields of parallel and distributed systems with applications to distributed processing across clusters of servers.

DSA, or Distributed Shared Arrays, is a distributed virtual machine that supports Java-compliant multithreaded programming with mobility support for system reconfiguration in distributed environments. “The DSA programming model allows programmers to explicitly control data distribution to take advantage of the deep memory hierarchy, while relieving them from error-prone orchestration of communication and synchronization at run-time,” Ramzi Basharahil wrote with two co-authors in a Wayne State paper. “The DSA system is developed as an integral component of mobility support middleware for grid computing so that DSA-based virtual machines can be reconfigured to adapt to the varying resource supplies or demand over the course of a computation. We demonstrate the programmability of the model in a number of parallel applications and evaluate its performance on a cluster of SMP servers, in particular, the impact of the coherence granularity.” The paper was entitled “Distributed Shared Array: An Integration of Message Passing and Multithreading on SMP Clusters.”

Ramzi Basharahil has in-depth knowledge of Security Information and Event Management. He likes to keep up to date with the best of software development practices, like Agile Development.
