Phil Walnock has had a successful career in management thus far in his life. Working first at Verizon in the telecommunications industry and then at PPL Electric Utilities in the utility industry, Phil Walnock has risen rapidly from one management position to another. Phil Walnock knows, though, that none of this would have been possible without his time spent at Stevens Institute of Technology working on his Master's degree. This is why Phil Walnock is already looking expectantly toward his coming tenth reunion at Stevens.

As an undergraduate student, Phil Walnock was not already certain that he was going to be in corporate management one day. Phil Walnock earned his degree in Sociology from East Stroudsburg University of Pennsylvania in 1995 and began working for Verizon as a union service technician and cable splicer. Soon, though, Phil Walnock began to wonder about moving up in the company. After a few years of technical work, Phil Walnock enrolled in Stevens Institute of Technology, having been accepted to their Management program. Even while he was in school, Verizon moved Phil Walnock into a management position, already sensing his aptitude for this kind of work.

Phil Walnock graduated from Stevens in 2005, proudly bringing his diploma back to Verizon, where he worked his way up to Strategic Initiatives Manager before leaving for PPL Electric Utilities, having been hired to be there Manager of Attachments and Telecom Business Services. Since this time in 2009, Phil Walnock has advanced thru the organization in numerous managerial and leadership roles.

"It is hard to believe that it has been almost ten years now," Phil Walnock mused, "Stevens was my key into the work I was really made to do. I will always been grateful for the extensive high quality education I received there."

Phil Walnock is taking this time before his tenth year since graduation arrives to look back over what he's done in these ten years and consider where he wants to do in the next ten. Phil Walnock says he is not yet ready to announce what his ten-year plan will be, as he is still discussing it with his family. But Phil Walnock does foresee some changes being made in the near future.
