Zaitzeff Burgers is consistently ranked one of the best burgers in NYC. In addition, Zaitzeff Burgers was rated as one of the 100 Best Places to Eat in New York City in 2004 by New York Magazine. Zachary Zaitzeff primarily uses local food, organic ingredients, and grass-fed beef in the dishes on his menu. Zachary Zaitzeff opened Zaitzeff Burgers in response to the tragedy of September 11th, 2001. Zachary Zaitzeff was working in finance on Wall Street for six years prior to opening Zaitzeff Burgers, which he located in the Financial District because he wanted to be a part of rebuilding that area. Zachary Zaitzeff chose to open a hamburger joint because he felt that a small, family-owned restaurant would be a good place to help rebuild community and a sense of safety.

After the success of his restaurant, Zachary Zaitzeff also opened another location in the Murray Hill-East Midtown area of Manhattan. Zachary Zaitzeff is also an artist, self-taught in the abstract style of painting. Zachary Zaitzeff showed his art at the Broome Street Gallery in May of 2013. Zachary Zaitzeff is both a successful small business owner and aspiring painter.
