Mike Biering played drums in a local concert fundraiser for children with cancer

Mike Biering and his worship band, 12 Stone Church, recently played at a benefit concert to raise money for children with cancer. The fundraiser is hosted annually, and the proceeds go towards funding research into leukemia, which most commonly affects young children. This is the first year Mike Biering and 12 Stone Church have participated in the fundraiser, but their presence received a warm welcome.

12 Stone Church enjoys a degree of local fame as one of the few smaller-scale worship bands that writes its own music in addition to covering more famous numbers. Additionally, it is a very prolific band, and is willing to travel long distances for evening shows. Mike Biering was the member who suggested that they audition to support the fundraiser, an idea his bandmates took to immediately.

As a worship band, Mike Biering notes that 12 Stone Church is especially dedicated to charity and acts of service, both individually and as a group.

“12 Stone Church isn’t just about making music,” Mike Biering says. “I mean, we’re absolutely about making music, we love to make music, but that’s not all it is. For us, music is a way to express faith, to tell God we love Him, and to help other people say that too. It brings us together, and shows us how we can give back.”

This sense of charity and community obligation is pervasive throughout all the band members. Since its inception, 12 Stone Church has lent its name and its instruments to charitable causes and events. This fundraiser, however, is by far the largest event they have ever participated in. Mike Biering hopes that it is not the last time.

“We loved being able to perform for so many people,” says Mike Biering. “The energy was great, and I think we raised a lot of money for the fundraiser. Hopefully, the next time people see our name, they’ll remember what we do, and come support us again. I’d love to get a reputation as a band that helps its community.”

Mike Biering and 12 Stone Church seem well on their way to getting such a reputation. Their performance was highly praised by both the audience and the event organizers.
