Dr. Malana Moshesh has signed on work with family planning clinic at Duke University.

Malana Moshesh is a distinguished OB-GYN physician based in Durham, North Carolina. She has worked as a physician locum for several women’s health clinics in the Durham area, including the All American OB-GYN clinic in Fayetteville, the Planned Parenthood Chapel Hill, and Women’s Health Haven. She has recently signed on to work with the family planning clinic at Duke University in late August of 2015, and she is currently in training to begin her work soon at the distinguished university.

Malana Moshesh started her career as a gynecologist and an obstetrician specialist in Tarboro, North Carolina. She worked there at the Tarboro Women’s Center for two years before moving to California to work as a Research Fellow for Stanford University’s Department of Community Medicine. She continued her academic research and experience when she became an Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of California, Davis Scholl of Medicine. After working as an OB-GYN physician in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, she joined the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences as a guest Physician Research Fellow.

Malana Moshesh has used her experience in both researching women’s health issues and practicing in women’s health clinics as a physician has given her a unique understanding of what women need from their OB-GYN specialist. She has always been willing to give her time to the exploration and research of common women’s health issues pressing the obstetrician community today. She has published three papers on the effects of uterine tumors like fibroids. She has helped discover many things, such as the fact that a family history of leiomyoma (uterine tumors) is not necessarily a good indicator of contracting the disease later in life, and that fibroids may adversely impact sexual health for some women.

Malana Moshesh is excited about her latest foray into clinical work. She hopes that she can help find solutions for the women in her community and beyond with the work that she and her team will do. She has spent her life wanting to help others in any way that she can. She considers research and participation in the academic side of medicine a part of her duty as a physician. Moshesh is married with two daughters, and she hopes that her children will lead happy, healthy lives. Her work at Duke University is part of that hope.
