Kari Lewinsohn celebrates the advancement of her own educational attainment with the completion of her doctorate from Capella University.

Kari Lewinsohn has years of experience as an educator and an educational administrator. She began work as an educator nearly twenty years ago when she completed her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education from Washington State University Pullman in 1994. Kari Lewinsohn completed her Early Childhood Teaching Certification from Spokane Community Colleges in 1996 and her Special Education Teaching Certification from Seattle Pacific University in 2001.

After Kari Lewinsohn completed her special education teaching certification she held a number of instrumental positions including her initial special education teacher position from 2001 to 2007 in Stanwood, Washington. “There has been a need for special education teachers for decades. The need still outstrips the supply. I enjoyed stepping into a position that was so high in demand,” says Kari Lewinsohn.

To continue her personal pursuit of education, Kari Lewinsohn returned to school with Capella University. In 2011, Kari Lewinsohn was selected as a representative of the Capella University Special Education Advisory Council. On July 1, 2013, Kari Lewinsohn completed her Doctorate in Special Education Administration Leadership.

The administrative degree compliments the work Kari Lewinsohn has already been performing. “I have over eight years as a presenter and college instructor as well as six years of work as a central office Special Services Director and Principal,” says Kari Lewinsohn. Kari Lewinsohn has thirteen years experience as a teacher in areas of math, science, and special education.

Kari Lewinsohn’s doctorate adds a note of authority to her position as Special Services Director and Special Education Director with the Lake Chelan School District where she has worked since 2011. “My administration work is one of leadership. I work with a number of community programs including Bridges Team and the Special Education Advisory Council. I have always taken an active role in the educational school system” says Kari Lewinsohn.

Kari Lewinsohn views the completion of her doctorate as the crown of her own personal education. As an administrator, she works to secure the fulfillment of a great education for her district. Despite her experience and director positions, Kari Lewinsohn saw completing her doctorate as the best method to better her skills as an educator and leader. She looks forward to guiding her district as leader and director for the benefit of her district’s students.
