Joshua Safeek Attends Flag Raising Ceremony on Republic Day

The Chairman of Safeco Holdings in Georgetown Joshua Safeek attended the flag raising ceremony as a special invitee of the Guyanese President on Republic Day.

 
Joshua Safeek attended the flag raising ceremony as a special invitee of the President of Guyana, David Granger last month. Dr. Safeek was honored by the invite and the chance to celebrate the day that Guyana became a republic in 1970 with its national leaders. He sat with the Mr. Granger and his cabinet, diplomatic corps, the head of the Joint Services and the Judiciary, as well as other government administrators.

Joshua Safeek was invited by the President to watch the flag raising ceremony because of his commitment to bringing jobs and economic opportunity to his country. As the Chairman of Safeco Holdings, Dr. Safeek has invested in several companies and projects that have benefitted the people of Georgetown and the surrounding area. Safeek became the Chairman of Safeco Holdings in 2003. He has found many companies to invest his clients’ capital in, helping small businesses get the capital investments they need while providing excellent returns on investment for his clients.

Joshua Safeek has a long history of helping his community. He is the former president of the West Demerara/ East Bank Essequibo and Islands’ Chamber of Commerce and the former president of the Association of Regional Chambers of Commerce, an umbrella body comprised of eight chambers of commerce throughout Guyana. For ten years, he also worked as the Chief Executive Officer of Caricom General Insurance Company. As the founder of the company, he introduced new insurance and financial products for customers such as bond underwriting and more.

Joshua Safeek also founded Fidelity Investment Merchant Bank in Guyana, a licensed money lender that Safeek guided to help finance commodities, real estate, and minerals. He helped develop the beautiful Ruimzeight Gardens Housing Scheme on the West Coast of Demerara, Guyana. In 2010, Safeek was made the Chairman of Caricom Cement Company, which he used to develop the first completely integrated cement plant in Everton, Guyana and infrastructural work for Republic Gardens Housing Development in the East Bank of Demerara.

Joshua Safeek took great honor in the President’s invitation to watch the flag raising ceremony last month to celebrate Guyana’s 46th year as an official republic.
