The University of Wisconsin at Stevens Point has just recently lost one of their best environmental sciences lecturer, Joshua M Shields, to the improvement of his career to reach the world. Shields has had an amazing academic and professional career as an environmental scientist and a forester, and is now looking to the next steps in his career, determined that his former lecturing career at UW-Stevens Point is only the beginning, and that the world has a new leader to take on the problems facing its environment.

Joshua Shields UW Stevens Point entered into a career that takes more than simple academic and industry knowledge to succeed. In such a passion-driven field, Joshua’s choice of career requires the best of the best to be determined to change the world’s problems, and take the devotion of their life to solving these problems that constantly plague the world’s communities. This is what Shields knew going into his academic career, and with this in mind he grew and molded into a very strong environmental scientist. His first impact to the world was not of physical change, but rather of education, using his PhD in Forestry Biology to grab a lecturing job at UW-Stevens Point. From there, he did what he could to achieve his mission by inspiring his students to care and advocate the improvement of the environment.

Now departing from the warm kindle of UW-Stevens Point, Joshua M Shields is seeking the first flame that will turn his career into a beacon for the others in the industry. Accepting a career as an Outreach Forester, Shields hopes to take the ecosystems he works with and creating sustainable solutions that betters not only the environments he works in, but environments all over the world. Where does the future lie for Joshua? Time will tell as his passion grows and his dedication to the mastery of his field strengthens. But one thing is for sure: Shields won’t stop until he has impacted the world forever.
