Joshua Lundberg of Northborough has enjoyed swimming since childhood, and he has always wanted to become a lifeguard to protect other swimmers. Because of this childhood dream, Joshua Lundberg of Northborough chose to get his lifeguard certification through the Red Cross. When asked to comment on his achievement, Joshua Lundberg of Northborough stated, βThe process to become a Red Cross certified lifeguard was difficult, which makes me even more proud of myself for completing it and succeeding.β
To become a certified lifeguard through the Red Cross, there are numerous tests that one needs to pass. Candidates such as Joshua Lundberg of Northborough must pass not only a swimming test, but also a test for emergency medical skills and a written test. In order to pass these tests, Joshua Lundberg of Northborough has to take a range of classes in emergency medical skills. Joshua Lundberg of Northborough has to learn how to perform standard first aid procedures as well as CPR. Joshua Lundberg of Northborough also had to learn to use an AED, or automated external defibrillator.
