Jeffrey Pell says data centers are changing, not going away

On the forefront of the modern technology seen is a new kind of data center that is changing things for the better. When you look back at the history of information technology, when the cloud arrived on the scene many people had anticipated that there would be a death of the data center. They couldn’t have been more wrong. Data center as you know it is not dead, it is merely transforming and changing for the better. Today’s data center is becoming an increasingly interconnected hub to various cloud-based resources and co-location data centers. With a variety of conductivity actions, the enterprise is finding an easy transition into tapping into the cloud and doing it with all of the required security, efficiency and reliability that they need in the structures.

Jeffrey Pell is an information technology professional that is seeing this evolution take place within his job world. This is happening through deep interconnectivity, IP peering, private VPN connections and other proven quality data center methods. That is just but one of the compelling components of this modern data center. The other element is this cloud infrastructure. It features power, utility and flexibility that is very compelling and it is driving the next wave of adoption. While some organizations try to roll the variety of technologies that they have on hand, many companies are seeing the benefits of bringing in proven experts that fit into the picture of hybrid cloud providers. The hybrid cloud infrastructure provides a combination of dedicated resources with the scalable power of the cloud in a way that is manageable and suited to the variable performance and workloads that are required by modern databases and application sets.

The modern data center is truly embarking on a new frontier as a result of these elements that are being introduced. Workloads are changing in light of a new and better technology that is faster and serves the business with better outcomes. The cloud has increasingly asserted itself in the form of information technology advantages, but it has not quite killed off the data center. The key to unlocking this value is in integrating into what the enterprise holds within its native data centers so that applications such as mobile, big data and Internet of things can truly interconnected in a way that is conducive to the goals of the enterprise. The spectrum and scope of data are bigger than it’s ever been before under the pressure of these emerging technologies. Hybrid technology is the ultimate manifestation of this relationship between the cloud and enterprise and by unlocking the power of the cloud within the database mind share that exist within the enterprise the future holds untold potential.
