Ian Renner of Cape Town has found great success in Los Angeles as a set designer after leaving his home and job in South Africa. He is highly knowledgeable in his field, and he is highly sought out by famous film directors.

Ian Renner of Cape Town has an incredible life story that you just don’t encounter every day. Growing up in South Africa, he worked for his father’s finance firm and eventually took over his father’s position when he retired. He spent years going to work unhappy and returning home unhappy. He knew that it wasn’t the right path for him, but he decided that putting in his time would eventually lead toward happiness. One day, years later, he simply couldn’t take it anymore and quit his job on the spot with the desire to move to Los Angeles to work in the film industry. Since he was a child, he had always been enchanted by movies, watching whatever he could get his hands on at the local video rental store in his hometown. Casablanca and The English Patient were two of his favorite films growing up.

Ian Renner Cape Town promptly set off for Los Angeles with the dream of becoming an acting star. With no formal training, he made finding auditions a top priority. After being unable to find work, and with his resources running low, he took a position at a nearby Wendy’s to make ends meet. Times were very tough, and he didn’t always have a stable place to live. But, he continued to dream about Hollywood. He knew that he had to get involved in some way, shape, or form, despite the fact that acting hadn’t taken him very far. Eventually, he found a steady and affordable place to live, and his roommate at the time pointed him in the direction of a prominent set design company. He was able to secure an unpaid internship, so he remained at Wendy’s, working the night shift, hardly sleeping at all.

Suddenly, Ian Renner of Cape Town knew exactly what he was meant to do in Hollywood. During his internship, he received praise and accolades for his ideas. His mentors became colleagues, and he was encouraged to continue in the field after making some contacts. He has never been happier and still marvels at the fact that he has a job where his creativity is allowed to run rampant.
