Local resident Ian Dewson earned a certification for Personal Training in South Florida.

 
In the fall of 2015, Ian Dewson received his personal trainer certification through the Elite Fitness Institute located in Boca Raton, Florida. Through this local gym, Dewson was able to attend eight weeks of courses and training, before taking his final exam. The courses were given through live instruction and online webinars, totaling eighty hours of hybrid test preparation.

The Elite Fitness Institute is backed through this training endeavor by the National Academy of Sports Medicine. As the governing body that oversees the training and instruction of fitness experts, the NASM has high standards for success. For nearly three decades, the National Academy of Sports Medicine has provided the benchmark for those seeking a career in health and fitness, sports medicine, and sports performance. Having grown to be an international regulator, the NASM has thousands of members, all around the world.Ian Dewson has been gainfully employed with the United Postal Service in South Florida.

While there are other venues within the United States where fitness professionals can receive certification, the NASM is the most recognized and most widely sought. With courses that are incredibly thorough, there is no doubt that the men and women who receive their training are the best in the business. Ian Dewson was responsible for learning a number of different topics that are important to the health and safety of his clients. These included human movement science, physiology and kinesiology, functional anatomy, program design, and functional assessment.

For those who wish to enhance their career even further, the NASM offers certifications in Corrective Exercise Specialization (CES) and Performance Enhancement Specialization (PES). The NASM provides their members with opportunities to earn continuing education credits from any one of their twenty different fitness, health, and nutrition courses.
