When Jayson Cohen founded Motorsport Technologies Houston Inc. (MTI) in Houston nearly 15 years ago, he based his decision on the passion he had for performance cars and improved engines. He had loved auto performance growing up, and he combined his passion with business knowledge to establish a company. He didn’t do it alone either. Cohen hired some of the best performance experts the city of Houston could provide, and they embarked on making MTI one of the best performance shops in the United States.

Jayson Cohen was brought up in Houston, and attended a local high school in the city. For his undergraduate degree, he attended a private university in Austin, Texas, only to return to Houston to pursue his desire to become an entrepreneur. Upon graduating with a business degree in 1992, he worked as a management trainee for two years before deciding to open MTI. In January of 1994, Cohen’s dream came true and over the span of the next 15 years, grew the company to global acclaim.

“I am an automotive enthusiast who has an absolute passion for performance,” he says. Cohen has developed his skills for the past two decades, and he’s now able to design and develop some of the best performing and reliable packages for modern performance cars.

MTI’s rise to prominence took time, but Cohen knows it was a product of hard work and dedication by his team. For a period, MTI’s cars were featured on top automotive magazines such as Car and Driver, Motor Trend, Hot Rod, Car Craft, among many others. The performance shop stretched its client base beyond the city of Houston, and was one of the preferred options for customers from across the country and beyond.

After a seven-year hiatus, Cohen has re-opened Motorsport Technologies Inc. with a focus on providing complete performance packages. Clients only need to tell the team of technicians what they hope to achieve from their performance vehicle and MTI will put together a package that meets those needs.
