For the better part of two decades, Hosalkar has been a leader in the field of medicine and orthopedic surgery. He has had many different awards, honors, recognitions, and praises heaped upon him for his hard work and dedication to medicine. Hosalkar recently sat down to discuss some of the highlights of his career and what he hopes for over the next few decades.

Hosalkar holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery from undergraduate studies. He then went on to get a Master of Orthopedic Surgery before entering medical school at the University of Bombay. While at the University of Bombay, Hosalkar obtained multiple distinctions and recognitions. Hosalkar ranked first in the University of Bombay in the final M.B.B.S. examination in 1993. This feat set all time record marks and was the catalyst for him receiving many different awards.
“Finishing first at the University was a huge accomplishment for me. It showed me that I could accomplish what I set my mind to; something that I still carry with me to this day,” Hosalkar said. “I also learned that awards and recognition aren’t everything. I work for the betterment of people and patient care, not recognition.”
Since finishing his education, Hosalkar has gone on to hold a variety of different positions and titles. Hosalkar has spent time teaching, lecturing, publishing, and practicing. Most recently he launched the Center for Hip Preservation and Children’s Orthopedics in San Diego, California.

“We are really excited about the center. It has been a dream of mine to open up a center like this for many years now, and I’m excited about the work we will be doing here,” Hosalkar said.

When asked about how he deals with so many different conditions and problems with such clarity and success, Hosalkar pointed to his philosophy. “I believe in treating every patient like I would my own child, sibling, or parent. I want to meet every patient’s individual needs in the best way I can. I do this through leading-edge joint and cartilage-preserving techniques in combination with traditional methods,” Hosalkar continued.
In the end, Hosalkar says it is all about “providing my patients with the best care possible.”
