Heather McPherson is a bestselling author and humanitarian activist who now guest speaks at universities and conventions.

Heather McPherson is a diversified individual. Not only has her bestselling Dr. Bob books taken off with unprecedented success and granted her a devoted fan base, but her lifelong history of public service has formed a life of its own, inspiring others to reap the benefits involved with giving back to their communities.

It all started with baseball. McPherson, a Detroit native, is a die-hard Tigers fan. She remembers her earliest years going to games with her father and brothers, listening to them as they debated stats and umpire decision-making. It was a weekly tradition for her family to go to these games until one day, when her Dad lost his job, and they could no longer afford the tickets. Heather, in her elementary years, didn’t use her newfound free time in ways most kids her age would. Instead, she volunteered at soup kitchens and animal shelters, putting aside her own social needs to better the lives of others.

Heather’s story echoed through the non-profits she worked for, and when the Tigers started donating tickets to these organizations, their leaders knew exactly who to give them to. Suddenly Heather was providing her family with the means to go to baseball games again, before even being at the legal age to work.

From then on, Heather’s decision to commit her life to public servitude was encouraged through the support she received from others, as well as the clear impact she was making on all the lives she helped. In high school, she developed an affinity for lacrosse, but as her grades and volunteer hours suffered from her new commitment, she resorted back to her normal fashion of setting her social identity aside for more important things.

She was accepted into The University of Michigan in 1992, where the lack of economic disparity in Ann Arbors mostly-college population left her with some free time to try lacrosse again. Before graduating in 1996, she had become a star player on their Division 1 team, leading her teammates to multiple victories.
With an English degree, a competitive nature and a knack for servitude, Heather was eager to take on new challenges after graduation. She returned to Detroit to teach inner-city adults how to read and write. The ability to communicate to multiple people at once was a new concept for Heather, which eventually encouraged her to reach out to a bigger audience.

She started to write her first Dr. Bob book in 1998. Once published, the book took off with unprecedented success, gaining popularity fast among the international community. She instantly got to the next book, and with the flexibility allowed by her book sales she was no longer as worried about income, and could concentrate on her newest venture: motherhood.

A proud mother of two, Heather McPherson is a supermom in the truest form. She is individually successful and a positive role model to her kids, who are now embracing their own ways to better their community. She currently resides in Ann Arbor and continues to write, volunteer and guest speak at universities and activism campaigns.
