Each year he has the ability to raise money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society. That money goes towards research that aims to treat and cure the disease.

John McCullough of Oakville has become dedicated to fundraising for the Multiple Sclerosis Society, particularly as he has learned more about the condition. “Multiple Sclerosis affects people when they’re still young a lot of the time – people in their twenties and thirties. And it can be impossible to tell whether someone with Multiple Sclerosis will be in a wheelchair in a year or will be nearly fine. It’s just an incredibly devastating and unpredictable disease, and that’s why I fundraise for the Multiple Sclerosis Society,” explains John McCullough of Oakville.

Another reason that John McCullough of Oakville consistently participates in the bike tour is for the sense of community. The Multiple Sclerosis Society Bike Tour brings together athletes at a range of levels who are all committed to the cause. “What’s really moving about participating in this ride is meeting all of these people who are there to support their families, meeting people who are still biking despite the disease. That community it what really makes the ride worth it for me,” says John McCullough of Oakville.

This year John McCullough of Oakville hopes to raise more money for the Multiple Sclerosis Society than in prior years, and convince more of his friends to participate in the ride. As a fundraiser, he wants to see the bike tour continue to grow and raise more money. “This money makes a big difference for research,” says John McCullough of Oakville. “Raising money through the Multiple Sclerosis Society Bike Tour is a concrete way to make a difference in your community because there are so many people living with this disease.”
