As a former judge, state representative, lawyer working in the Executive Office of the Governor, former Judge Paul Hawkes has enjoyed many varied successes in Florida State Government. The impact of his service can be seen throughout the State of Florida to this day, and is a testament to his unwavering commitment and unmatched desire to serve Florida citizens with efficiency, effectiveness and integrity.

Former Judge Paul Hawkes has enjoyed multiple successes in the courtroom, both before he served on the Florida District Court of Appeals as an Assistant State Attorney shortly after his graduation from law school and after his resignation from the court. He was also honored for the opportunity to serve in the Florida State Legislature, representing Districts 43 and 26 from 1990-1994. Former Judge Paul Hawkes served on multiple committees as a state representative, and was an instrumental advisor to the first Republican Speaker of the House in over 120 years. He has also had the exciting opportunity to be part of Governor Jeb Bush’s office of Policy and Budget, helping the governor’s team identify inefficiencies and streamline programs that have provided the state with an enormous amount of budgetary savings.

Former Judge Paul Hawkes also took the time to share his knowledge and experience with the students of Florida State University, his law school alma mater. Between 2005-2012, Hawkes taught various courses including; Legislation, Pre-trial Civil Drafting and Worker’s Compensation to law students at FSU. Former Judge Paul Hawkes also provided a course on Statutory Interpretation to other judges at the Florida Judicial College in 2005. As an adjunct professor, he was able to impart the knowledge and experience he had accumulated during decades of public service with his students, helping to improve young students’ understanding of the legal system.
