Edward Werkmann on Competitive Frisbee Golf

Even though Frisbee Golf has been around since 1959, its popularity is now rising.

 
A new competitive sport is making its way to the front lines, Frisbee Golf. Its popularity is quickly on the rise. Edward Werkmann is into many types of outdoor sports, but one of his favorite if Frisbee golf. He likes that it requires a lot of skill and accuracy. The sport requires knowledge on how to throw the disc and the physical ability to retrieve the disc, usually from a great distance.

There are many obstacles found on Frisbee gold courses. the point of the game is to get from the beginning of the course to end with the fewest number of throws of the disc. According to Edward Werkmann, the sport has grown drastically in just 8 years, with the number of disc golf courses doubling.”

The person responsible for getting the sport of Frisbee Golf noticed is Kevin Donnelly, who was unknown for his accomplishment until 2011. In 1959, he began playing a form of Frisbee golf called Street Frisbee Golf. After becoming the Recreation Supervisor for the City of Newport Beach, California in 1961, he formulated and then began organizing Frisbee golf tournaments around the city's parks while he supervised. In 1965, a fully documented event called Wham-O sponsored a city-wide Frisbee Golf tournament.

Edward Werkmann believes that it's important to have interest and activities outside of work. When not at has Civil Engineering job, he enjoys reading, watching sports (tennis, hockey, baseball, basketball, football), playing Frisbee golf, watching Netflix, playing video games and dogs. He was a former member of Society of Future Engineers and ASCE (American Society of Civil Engineers) in college as well. Edward Werkmann plays Frisbee golf whenever he gets a chance.

Besides enjoying his past times, Edward Werkmann works as a civil engineer in the state of Missouri. His job duties include taking the road construction plans from the designer and then building it out in the field. According to Edward Werkmann, the lans often contain errors and it is his job to catch those errors and fix them before they become a problem on the site. He is the companies problem solver. He is in charge of tracking the expenses to make sure that he is within his budget.
