Pet owners need to remain vigilant and aware to keep their pets safe, says animal lover Tambi Renee.

Tambi Renee advocates for the humane treatment of animals. She has always loved animals and offers advice on how to keep one’s animals away from harmful plants and substances that may threaten their lives.

According to Tambi Renee, people should always be aware of the toxic things in their household, as well as their pets’ ability to access them. Both cats and dogs can be adversely affected by common household items because of simple owner negligence. Tambi Renee recommends maintaining a strong knowledge of the items that can kill your pet, and to develop a system that effectively keeps your animal(s) away from those things.

Alcoholic beverages, for instance, can be sickening and even lethal to both cats and dogs. Tambi Renee recommends responsible alcohol consumption done in places where pets either can’t or refuse to go. Other drinks that affect pets are caffeinated beverages life coffee or tea, which can lead to problems for a dog or cat’s heart and nervous system. Chocolate, says Tambi Renee, is another deadly substance that should be kept away from a household pet at all times.

Most toxic substances will have similar effects on both cats and dogs. Animals, says Tambi Renee, are prone to get into things people may not be aware of, and that both dogs and cats can be the recipients of adverse health effects from things that never should have been accessible. Simple things like baby food, poultry and seafood bones and even citrus oil extracts can be devastating to an animal’s health. Tambi Renee takes every precaution when it comes to the possibly lethal things her household animals could have access to.

It may seem obvious to some, but common foods can affect a pet’s health and well-being. Things like mushrooms, onions, potatoes and even milk, says Tambi Renee, can lead to expensive and painful health problems that will make your furry friend miserable. It’s essential, says Tambi Renee, to only provide your pets with nutritious and approved foods that are specifically developed for them. Dogs and cats may even have problems digesting foods meant for other animals.
