Dr. Theodora Stolz Celebrates her Greek Heritage

Dr. Theodora Stolz is a Greek psychologist working in America.

Dr. Theodora Stolz moved to the United States of America back when she was a little girl. She was an orphan of Greek descent, who arrived by plane and was adopted by a low-income family who raised her in Brooklyn. As she got older, she embraced her American surroundings but had grown more and more curious about her Greek heritage. She started to experiment with cooking Greek cuisine and enjoying traditional forms of Greek music and dance.

Working out of her adoptive parents’ small kitchen, Dr. Theodora Stolz was limited in her abilities to cook gigantic meals; however she had the means to start small. She started making gyros and souvlaki in the regular, which was much to the benefit of her parents who were raising their own personal chef. Once she got better, she started trying new things that required some more resources and preparation time. First came falafel, and then she started putting the oven to work more often. Today, her spanakopita and lamb of green chicken soup, as well as her Easter soup and lemon flavored potatoes with orzo, rival many that are served in Greek restaurants in her neighborhood, as Dr. Theodora Stolz has become a self-made Greek chef.

As an artistic personality, Dr. Theodora Stolz has always embraced music as another way she could stay in touch with her Greek heritage. She often plays her favorite Greek folk tunes while driving, and mimics famous dances that line up with the songs. She knows the ballos, trata, hasapiko and many more traditional dances that are often seen at Greek culture festivals and family celebrations. Her knowledge of Greek musicians and their songs is vast, as the artistic part of her mind often acts like a Greek jukebox, where she could burst into spontaneous song at any moment.

Now an accomplished psychologist and mother of three, Dr. Theodora Stolz is in her own house and trying to keep her Greek heritage alive by passing these hobbies and traits on to her children. The children have little to complain about, as her food is delicious and the singing and dance, and her ability to be a kid at heart, that takes place in the home while she’s home often livens up the whole house.
