Dr. Sat Bhattacharya has achieved a milestone in his career.

Dr. Sat Bhattacharya received his Ph.D. in Molecular Genetics from Calcutta University. While his degree was pivotal in the progress of his career, Dr. Sat Bhattacharya’s contribution to medical science started much earlier than that, back when he got his Master of Science in Molecular Biology from the University of Poona and in Cellular and Molecular Pathology from the University of Toronto. He has been a Fellow of the Royal Microscopic Society, Oxford, U.K. since 2000.

Within those twelve years, Dr. Sat Bhattacharya did not miss a step in making significant contributions to his field. His exemplary research on human cells and disease turned pivotal developments in the battles against Japanese encephalitis, HIV, AIDS, Skin Cancer, Thyroid Cancer, Prostate Cancer, Breast Cancer, Tuberculosis and many other diseases that threaten large portions of the global human population. His work was published in a number of medical journals, and his name was the subject of several media reports commending his unwavering dedication to the field of medical research.

Now the holder of two patents and a number of accreditations and endorsements, Dr. Sat Bhattacharya continues to push his impact on medicine through another avenue: inspiring youth. As the Founder and President of both Harlem Children Society and the Association of Science and Society, and as the president of the Rockefeller University Chapter of “Sigma Xi Scientific Research Society” - one of the most prestigious and oldest science organizations with over 200 Nobel Laureates, Dr. Sat Bhattacharya aims to encourage young people in impoverished areas to pursue those careers in science and medicine that seem so distant from their current scenarios. Both organizations work to provide tools and resources to these areas to increase hope for a safe and healthy future through the development of aspiring scientists.

Now in its fourteenth year of operation, Harlem Children Society (HCS; www.HCS2k.org), furthering STEM (Science, Technology Engineering and Math) in poverty and crime stricken communities is the ultimate source of Dr. Sat Bhattacharya’s pride. The group’s inception almost immediately followed the earning of his Ph.D., giving Dr. Sat Bhattacharya much to celebrate around this time. The group has gained a worldwide following and hosts annual events in impoverished areas of the United States, Latin America, Africa and Asia each year. The society has grown significantly with help from community leaders, politicians, fellow doctors and major media outlets who have all seen the potential in such a great endeavor. With only less than a couple of decades of holding a doctorate, Dr. Sat Bhattacharya has made a contribution to the field of medicine that will engrave his name in the development of the next generation’s doctors.
