Dr. Cesar Parra based his training program on what is considered the classical German training methods of relaxation, rhythm, contact, impulsion, straightness, and collection. The Old Masters of the sport developed this specific scale to help the dressage rider in training hone one skill at a time before moving on to the other. For instance, one cannot master straightness, without first mastering impulsion.

The connection between human and horse can be intoxicating at times. Dressage tends to bring that connection to its maximum potential as both horse and rider strive to achieve excellence. The rider, not just the horse, must train rigorously in order to compete at such high levels like Dr. Cesar Parra.
